STEM Camps

L3 Academy offers a creative combination of learning, community and physical activity that can all be combined for a great camp experience. Inquiry-based learning and some good ol' fashioned camp fun are combined together for kids to learn and have fun. There is a grade range for the camps that correlates to the different activities.

Coding: Videogame Programming 9AM-1PM  Grades 2-8    Enroll Now

Using a mix of different programs, campers will work at their own pace to create a game. For children who programmed before, this camp is an opportunity for them to deepen their skills and understanding by creating multi-tiered worlds, using more complex variables and increasing their ability to create 3-dimensional motion.  All skill levels welcome!

Superhero Science Camp 1-3PM  Grades K-3    Enroll Now

Batman, Iron-man, Big Hero 6, Wolverine, Wonder Woman, Storm and many others are superheroes every child imitates, but where do their superhero powers come from? Is there anything in today's science and engineering worlds that could explain superheroes? Campers use hands-on activities to explore each superhero’s power(s) and then create their own superhero costumes, playing cards, vehicles and worlds. Many hands-on STEM activities. In order to accomodate a larger camp, this camp is held at offsite at a facility in Glen Ridge (location: TBD).

Chess & Coding (Game Design and Interactive Programming) 9AM-3PM  4-8    Enroll Now

Each class has a distinct objective or objectives so that campers can work towards a bigger goal or being able to create their own programs. Each camper will be able to self-pace.

August 7-11, 2017

Grossology & Robotics 9AM-1PM  Grades K-3    Enroll Now

What's grosser than gross? How about creepy, edible worms and dirt, pus infections that you can pop, edible skin models, and, of course, what happens to food! Nothing is more fun than icky, sticky, messy, and monstrously gross science (especially when it’s not done at home). Robotics activities will be dispersed through out camp. During the camp, campers will build different structures using LEGO® Robotics systems and program it to move, react to stimuli (e.g. sound, motion, light, etc.). Campers will be separated by a number of factors: age, level of knowledge and maturity.

Science Explorers 1PM-3PM  Grades K-3    Enroll Now

Science is a big word that opens the door to explore new worlds. In this camp, our young scientists will spend time exploring the mysteries of science – from cells to rockets to air-powered travel.  Each day has a new science theme along with daily parent guides for enhanced learning.
